Woman dies after wasp stings in Salisbury – My Fox 8

SALISBURY, N.C. — A woman trimming rose bushes died after being stung by wasps Wednesday in Salisbury.

The Salisbury Post reported that 61-year-old retired teacher Patricia Vaughan had disturbed a ground nest of yellowjackets as she was doing her chores.

“One bit her on her big toe because she was wearing sandals and two more got her before she got back to the house,” said her husband Keith Vaughan, according to the Post.

She reportedly collapsed on the floor unconscious following the stings and was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Friends describe Patricia Vaughan as “real team player” and an outstanding teacher.

Her funeral is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday at Thyatira Presbyterian Church.
