In Ormskirk we have a set rate for dealing with wasp nests of just £65.00 and that includes work done in the evenings or at weekends. We also work Bank Holidays at no additional charge.
We charge £65.00 to deal with wasps and £75.00 to deal with bees as they are rather more complicated.
Safety At Heights
Our operatives do not carry ladders and are not allowed to use ladders other than short step-ladders. We use telescopic extension lances which gives us a reach of around 10 meters (33 feet) which is more than adequate for most domestic properties.
If the entrance to the nest is above gutter height and not visible from the ground please inform us when you phone. For nests high on rooftops, in roof valleys etc it may be necessary to send a two man climbing team at increased cost. This satisfies our obligations under Working at Heights regulations and is safer for you and our operatives.

Tree Bumblebees – A Newcomer
In the Ormskirk area we now have got a new and rather aggressive
bumble bee, the Tree Bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum). Though we try not to hurt bees, this species is unsafe when nesting low down in a garden or on the body of your building.
We do not generally like to kill bees but this bee is risky when nesting in the proximity of people, especially children and pets.
Its characteristic markings, black body, the orange thorax and white tail, make it simple to spot and we advocate calling a pest controller immediately you think you may possibly have a nest. In the interim keep away as this bee can and will sting.

Wasps
Our cost for the treatment of wasp nests is set at £65.00 and we will never ask you for extra unless access equipment such as scaffolding or a cherry-picker is necessary to reach the nest. Please note that doing work at height legislation is very exacting these days so please tell us if the nest is any taller than the gutters of a standard domestic house.
However, once we get much beyond mid-September we are working with what we call a late season wasp nest, and this may call for added work to make things safe for you. Please click the link for extensive details.
We try and destroy wasp nests from the outside of the building whenever practicable and we prefer to use extension lances rather than ladders, it’s much safer for everyone involved.
Also, and more importantly DO NOT attempt to close or block the nest entrance with mastic or mortar etc., you’ll drive the Wasps into the house and when we arrive we need the entrance to be open so as to perform the treatment.
If you call us out to a nest where you have sealed the entrance we will charge you extra for the additional time it takes us to deal with the nest.
On occasions when an entrance has been sealed or where you have attempted to deal with the nest yourself we reserve the right to charge you a call out fee without carrying out the treatment or to attempt the work with no guarantee given.
What we do
You will be provided with the first possible appointment, commonly same-day and our technician will destroy the wasp nest by injecting a tiny amount of insecticide into the hole where the wasps are coming and going. The wasps will transport this wasp killer powder into the nest on their bodies and the entire thing will be inactive inside of the hour.
As long as we can access the wasps’ nest from the exterior of the building you do not even have to wait in.
If we can get to the nest without going through the house we can take a card payment over the phone and deal with the nest without you having to wait in. Please be sure to leave unlocked any gates we may need to go through.
If you know of any difficulties which you are aware of that might have an impact on the process such as the existence of bats then please inform us of that on the phone.
Ants
